The conference will allow participants to better understand the activities of DDI. These activities are consistent with the vision of the Government of the DRC to transform of the artisanal mining sector. DDI will share the challenges, achievements and results obtained by Congolese registration officers, who overcame difficult local conditions to register 55 000 miners of gold and the “3Ts” (tin, tungsten and tantalum).
Artisanal production represents more than 80% of mineral production exported by the DRC. Registration, accompanied by support to artisans and their communities, is the first step in the formalization of the sector, which is highly important.
