Kimberley Process Development Agenda

One of DDI’s key programs is the KP Development Agenda, which we established for projects with WGAAP member countries.

At the level of the Kimberley Process, DDI has partnered with the Working Group on Artisanal and Alluvial Production (WGAAP) through a Memorandum of Understanding, to help the WGAAP integrate development solutions alongside KP regulatory requirements and assist with the formalization of artisanal diamond mining. Current members of the WGAAP include the governments of Angola, Brazil, CAR, Cote d’Ivoire, DRC, Ghana, Guinea, Guyana, Liberia, Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Togo, and Zimbabwe.

DDI also partners with members of the Kimberley Process Civil Society Coalition for projects on the ground with artisanal miners. The KP is a tripartite system involving governments, civil society and the industry, and so DDI also has a close working relationship with the World Diamond Council (WDC) and its private sector members.
